Timber framing is less common than brick in Perth, and it suits a design like this one: it is quicker to erect, it handles long spans and raked ceilings comfortably, and it gives greater freedom in how the walls are set out. It also demands accuracy, because there is nowhere for an error to hide once linings go on.
Polished concrete and a pool that reads as part of the house
Polished concrete floors have to be planned at slab stage rather than chosen later — the mix, the finish level, the placement of joints and how services penetrate the slab all have to be resolved before the pour. The same applies to a pool of this size: integrating it with the house means coordinating structure, drainage, fencing compliance and the outdoor living area as one piece of work rather than three.
